Okay. A little confused as to why this is happening. Essentially, I have all the specs required for the game (and more). I reinstalled my computer (codecs and all as well for running the game) recently and started playing this game again to see if it still worked. To my joy, all my old game files worked fine.

I go to the new game. It works fine, however when I go to leave the first area my computer restarts as soon as I hit the global map icon. This doesn't happen with my old games, just if I start a new one.

Can you please turn of the option: restart at system error.

right click on workspace ->properties-> then I think system and restore under "star options" click on settings or advanced, and remove the tick from "reset when error occurs" or something like that.

Sorry, I have not the english OS so I had to translate it to english. Hope the direction was okay.

The game crashes when you hit the global map button?
This is a common problem. It often helps to pause the game before showing the global map.

Something similar happens to a friend over here... whenever he tries to access the map, WinXP gives him a blue screen and restarts, the same if he tries to access the options.

And this is kind of weird, because he doesnt have a much different computer than I do and I have absolutely no problems with it
A sempron going at 1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM DDR1, Windows XP SP2 Pro and a Geforce 5500 is what he has.

This probelems are extremely Hardware sensitive. I dont know why but even the same system with one changed component can cause this bug if the Game dont like this component (mostly that are ATI Graphiccards).

But like Dragoana said before: the only known workaround is to pause the game und then hit the ingame MapButton or Optionbutton. Do not use the Hotkey if you have the restartbug. That mostly works.

ATI Graphiccars? Mhh My game didn't crash. Maybe the other components prevented the game from doing so. But I last played I of the Dragon with a HD3870. No crashes.

Sounds weird, I will tell him to try that. If it doesnt work either, then his PC isnt compatible. Thanks!

Yes Syphedia, i dont say all of this kind, but over the years the most people with this bug had a ATI Graphiccard, but it also happens with different Geforces. I.e. my old Computer had a Geroce 4 MX, no problems. My Actual has a Geforce 7900 GS and i got the bug too.
