Two Worlds 2 for PC has been canceled?!

I just got a call from Gamestop not a few minutes ago saying Two Worlds 2 was canceled for PC. Its 4 days before the games comes out. What the hell? I was looking forward to playing this game for months now. What on earth caused it to be canceled?

I got the same call. Apparently they don't have high hopes for the pc version is the US, which is more of a console region. They don't want to spend money on producing a boxed version. However, it's everywhere, including gamestop.com, for digital download.

While I cant argue with that being a reason, they should at least ship enough copies to cover all preorders of the game, then just no more copies after that. Now I wont get the preorder sword from gamestop.



Edit: I just looked around online. It appears the game has been canceled since almost every copy of the game was ruined.

"The freighter carrying the game stock from China to UK managed to wreck almost all of the release copies, and the ones that weren't are in no shape to be shipped to customers. We just received the container from China with the Collector's Edition and other components and they are wrecked. Several components were just a total wreck and unacceptable for us to give out to our fans."

i was just at gamestop and they said only special edition for pc was canceled not the regular version?

No one at Gamestop seems to know what the hell is going on. That's why I just bought it on Direct 2 Drive and downloaded it. I still have my prebook with Gamestop but I have no faith it will show up.

I'd recommend just downloading it from Direct 2 Drive or Steam. The online purchase is much easier.

i have the 360 version but when i was talkin to the manager he said the pc was still scheduled to be released just not special and that was like an hour ago so im not sure?

I just called the gamestop that I had the preorder at. They confirmed no copies of the game will be coming in on hard disk version. Collectors edition or not. You can receive a preorder code if you had the game preordered on PC since they have them from the console versions, the code works just the same for PC.

Just got the Gamestop automated call saying my prebook is cancelled and that I can call my local store and get a refund or put it towards another game. Purchase this game online. It is very good and well worth it.

I have this game pre-ordered and fully paid for, I will now be putting my money toward another game. I have lost all faith in this company and will not be buying the direct to drive. My reason: if there are bugs in this game that will cause me to have issues playing it, I can't trust they will put an effort into fixing it. I also will never look forward to any game by this company. Get my hopes up and then delay the game like a week before release, then days before it's next release, they cancel cancel? Screw that.

Is this definitely true for all retailers that sold pre-orders for the pc version? Mine is with Walmart, has anyone else gotten an e-mail/call about their Walmart pre-order? I would assume that it is, but I haven't heard anything yet. It would make sense, however, if Walmart was just slower at letting us know/finding out about it than Gamestop.

I see Steam is selling the game now too. And since it took this long to bring it to Steam, it's probably not only for the European gamers.
€39,99 in Europe, I'm guessing it's $39,99 in the US.

I thought it was Topware's Royal Edition copies that got ruined not Southpeak's copies?
Oh well, I am still glad I have my copies already from import

I don't care what the reason is, I've still lost confidence in the company and game. I realize it is a setback for them, but I believe the game was supposed to be $39.99 at gamestop. Gamestop had a promotional price of $29.99 for the PC the week it was originally supposed to be available. It didn't happen, no promo anymore. Now they cancel and the price is now $49.99? Sorry I'll pass. I could have bought the game for $30 minus the $10 mail in rebate to make it $20... Now it will be more than double.
I don't have enough confidence in them to spend that much.

(Serious question) Are these guys a new software dev team ? Because they seem pretty clueless about customer relations and marketing, first the endless delays ( UK ) and now this ? It doesn't affect me as I am on xbox but I can only imagine how absolutely livid folks must be about this. It seems to me that they have a LOT to learn about keeping customers happy !!

No matter what Walmart does, I think I'm just going to cancel my pre-order and download it off of Steam. I'm tired of waiting and checking the forums/retail sites every day just to make sure the release date hadn't changed. My biggest concern was the lack of communication between Southpeak and the customers. All of this delay is okay I guess, but at the very least they could be letting us know what is going on. (For example, they could let us know that the pc hard copy was canceled as opposed to us finding out from Gamestop first...)

Not that I would trust CrapWare to tell us the truth about any release date (I mean if the container was damaged a while back why only say the day before the release date, if it was damaged on Thursday how the hell were they going to get copies to shops...teleportation? Either way, if I had people like that in my department at work and they were that incompetent...bye bye time) BUT none of the UK online retailers I trust have anything but 25/2/11 (game and amazon.co.uk) or TBA (play).

Having said that, and this puzzles me, if the physical copies were trashed then why delay the d2d/steam releases in the UK. US/european DL sites have it, why not the UK ones...bar a few screaming hard copy retailers who will probably bargin bin 2w2 as soon as it arrives as DA2 etc will be out.

On the bright side for me, a friend sent me a link to a UK based webby retailer that seems to ahve boxed copies (probably, i hope, an import of the international version) one of which should arrive in 3-4 days....i hope (not holding my breath though as I am not a world record free diver).

The strategy guide for this game was also cancelled for North America, come Monday next week, that credit will reserve me the Collectors Edition of the Dragon Age 2 strategy guide.

lol....what does it matter if u have the disc or D2D? if its got bugs its going to apply to either version

In case you didn't know it, the developers made the game, that's the developers' job. They make games. They don't ship the games out, they don't pack the games into crates and put them on freighters. They don't put them on the shelves on Gamestop. They don't sell them from Gamestop either.

They just make the game. They made the game and it was released in Europe in 2010. It's just that the cowardy publisher in charge of the north american market was too scared that the game wouldn't sell, so they decided to release the game in early 2011 instead, to avoid the competition.

Don't blame the developer. Blame the North American/UK publisher, blame the chinese freighter, but most of all; Blame the UNFORTUNATE COINCIDENCES.

This thread has me really curious. I have the Royal Edition for PC pre-ordered from Top-ware and it is sitting at the Chicago FedEx hub right now, scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Yet you guys say this was canceled? I wonder what is actually going to show up at my house tomorrow. Ill keep you guys updated.

Yeah that is where I was at. I put the pre-order in for $30 at Gamestop. Now I'll have to wait for that nice discount again. It's the principal of it.
