sorry for the outburst. This time I downloaded from the offical website and it is clean. Probably it must have come with one of the ways you guys mentioned. I am in a LAN and connect from Japan so it might be possible.

Howcome there are different versions around??
I have a UK version of the game, but it is definately v1.0. I bought it here in Holland in the first week it was on the shelves. Put it away again because of unplayability and having to restart a char with every patch, so now with 1.6 I am back in the fight again, however I do need the big file, eventhough I have a UK version of the game...

Can anyone elaborate as this seemingly contradictory information might confuse a lot of people who aren't as adept with pc's and patching. . .?

What you have CANNOT be version 1.0, since 1.0 was never released. The first ever released version was 1.1, and it was an International Release. It was immediately patched to 1.2, though.
You probably have this very first release, which was for English-speaking europe, Germany, Holland and some other countries - encompassing most of Continental Europe.
There were other releases later on, in Spain, Russia, Italy, etc.., but they were either 1.2 or 1.4.
Last release before proper UK, US and AUS versions were released was made in Poland. It was prepatched to 1.4.
If the game box shows Zuxxez as the publisher, then it's definitely one of those early releases.
If the box shows Southpeak, there is no way it's patched to anything else than 1.5.

Not to be cheeky, but my file version shows 1.0.0 in Windows explorer and if I start the game unpatched it definately says v1.0 in the main menu, I am sorry, but it does seem I do have a v1.0 copy. . .

I will be happy to provide box pictures and/or DVD pictures if you want.
Publisher is Topware Interactive and the devs are Reality Pump or so says the box.
It's a box with a flap you can open which shows additional features and pictures inside.
Patching to 1.6 with the big patch works flawlessly, but I just want to point out that apparently there are different versions around...

I have read that this patch is causing issues with Vista. Anyone using this patch running Vista? I cant seem to get in game keys to work, I hope this is just a bug

i really want to know what happened with this ?? no more posts after this one were made by the mods. does he have such a "non existent" version ? what's the deal... i really need to know...

If you have the retail version you can patch normally. The game was sold in Version 1.0 or 1.2 I think. You need to Update to 1.6 (Big Patch) and then to 1.7 (Tainted Blood AddOn for Multiplayer if you like) 1.6 is the latest SP Patch.
